The new generation of the popular full-size truck is on its way but its heavy-duty versions, including 2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD, won’t come so soon. According to the latest reports, the new generation of this version will be ready next year, which indicates it will come as the 2020 year model. Until then, this highly capable truck will continue without bigger changes, featuring the same design, same engines and, most importantly, same capabilities.
2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD Design
The current generation of this truck isn’t that old, so the company doesn’t want to hurry with the launch of the new model. So, the 2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD changes will be minimal and will refer only to a few new pieces of standard equipment. Rest of the truck is about to remain unchanged. This means a familiar styling which is present for about five years. The interior design will also remain unchanged, which means a familiar cabin, though the list of standard equipment could be expanded for each trim level.
When will GMC Sierra 3500HD be redesigned?
As we’ve already mentioned, this should be the last year model of the current generation. The new one is about to come sometime in the next year, probably as a 2020-year model. It will come with a lot of novelties, following all those changes that we saw on the base 1500 model.
2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD Cab Configurations
When it comes to body style, we will see familiar versions in the offer. There will be three cab configurations available. Those are Single Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab. All models come with a long 8-feet bed, except the Crew Cab model with single rear wheels, which comes with a shorter 6.1-feet bed. Speaking of rear wheels, all versions are available with either single or double wheels.
The equipment organization remains the same. There are four trims available. Those are base, SLE, SLT, and Denali. The base model already comes with a lot of standard equipment. Some of the highlights are 18-inch steel wheels, locking rear differential, xenon headlights, cruise control, power locks etc. When it comes to tech features, you can count on things like 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, six-speaker audio system, USB, Bluetooth etc.
Next in the line is SLE. This one adds standard features like bigger 8-inch touchscreen, alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote keyless entry, satellite radio etc.
The SLT seems like the best value for the money. It includes all above, but also adds plenty of equipment. Some of the highlights are power-adjustable and heated front seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable pedals, driver memory settings, 110V power outlet etc.
Finally, there is Denali. This model doesn’t come just with more equipment but also feature plenty of unique styling details, including the grille, wheels, interior details etc. When it comes to standard equipment, you can count on a premium sound system, heated steering wheel, parking sensors and much more.
2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD engines
There will be two engines in the offer for 2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD. The base unit is a familiar 6.0-liter V8 gasoline engine, which delivers around 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. If you need better towing and hauling capabilities, there is also a 6.6-liter V8 diesel engine in the offer. It delivers around 445 horses and 910 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
How much can GMC Sierra 3500HD tow?
A max towing capacity depends on the engine and body style. If you are looking for the most capable version, go for some that feature a 6.6-liter diesel engine. This one can tow up to 23.300 pounds. On the other side, max payload capacity goes over 7.100 pounds.
2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD release date and price
The 2019 GMC Sierra 3500HD is about to come late in the year. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, so base models should go around 36.000 dollars.
