Considering the fact that this compact crossover has been redesigned recently, it seems pretty certain that 2019 GMC Terrain won’t feature any bigger changes. Just like its corporate sibling from Chevy, Equinox, this crossover came completely new last year. The company introduced a new model that brings a lot of improvements in various aspects. The first thing you’ll notice is a brand-new styling, which definitely puts this model among most attractive crossovers in its class. Of course, there are numerous mechanical upgrades, as well as a pretty long list of standard features.
2019 GMC Terrain Changes
We will start this 2019 GMC Terrain review with a few words about changes. This will be the second year model of the current generation, so there aren’t many novelties to come. The base design is about to remain unchanged. On the outside, the biggest changes will be in terms of new exterior colors. All important things about the 2019 GMC Terrain interior will remain the same, but the interior is about to come with some new color schemes and trims in the offer. Also, expect few additions for each trim level.
Which trim levels will be in the offer for 2019 GMC Terrain?
The 2019 GMC Terrain is about to continue with a familiar trim level organization. Even the base SL model comes with a pretty generous offer of standard features. Some of the highlights are things like 17-inch wheels, keyless ignition and entry, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, 6-speaker audio system, satellite radio and much more.
The SLE trim seems like a bit of an upgrade. It adds things like heated seats, bigger 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, remote engine start, dual-zone climate control, roof rails and much more.
Moving next to the SLT trim and you can count on plenty of luxury features. Leather upholstery is standard, as well as a power tailgate. You can also count on Bose audio system, as well as on a bunch of advanced safety systems. Some of the highlights are automatic high beams, low-speed forward collision warning and mitigation with automatic braking, lane departure warning with lane keeping assist etc.
Finally, we will see a 2019 GMC Terrain Denali. The famous top-level trim has always been characterized by unique visual details and this crossover won’t be an exception at all. Once again, we will see a unique grille design, plenty of chrome details, LED headlights, bigger 19-inch wheels, and similar things. Of course, the list of standard features will be longer as well.
Also, we should see a pretty interesting 2019 GMC Terrain Black Edition. This one will come with unique, blacked details, just we have seen on the same-named version of Acadia.
2019 GMC Terrain Engines
The 2019 GMC Terrain should continue with same three engines in the offer. Base models will feature a 1.5-liter turbo inline-four unit, which is good for about 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. If you are for some more power, a bigger 2.0-liter unit seems like a perfect choice. This engine also gets help from a turbocharger. A max output goes around 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Both engines use the same 9-speed automatic transmission.
Finally, there is a diesel version, just it is the case with the Equinox. There is a familiar 1.6-liter unit, which is good for about 137 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. The strongest point of this engine in amazing fuel economy. It goes around 29 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
When is the 2019 GMC Terrain coming out?
We expect to see the new version late in the year, sometime in December. When it comes to the 2019 GMC Terrain price, it should remain in the same range, which means between 25.000 and 40.000 dollars roughly.
