2019 Honda CR-V Changes, Hybrid, Touring, Release Date

Despite quite a recent redesign, we could see some pretty interesting changes for the 2019 Honda CR-V. With it undoubtedly amazing quality and Honda’s excellent reputation when it comes to reliability, it’s no wonder that this compact crossover is considered to be one of the best models in its class. So far, we have seen five generations of this amazing crossover.

The current generation came in late 2016, as a 2017-year model. Considering its relatively recent redesign, we shouldn’t expect bigger changes for the next year. However, the Japanese manufacturer has been prepared some interesting novelties for the next year. Above everything else, there is a new hybrid version to come. Also, expect to see some tweaks on the current version, especially when it comes to standard equipment.

2019 Honda CR-V Changes

The 2019 Honda CR-V changes are about to be numerous. Although the base design will remain unchanged, we should see plenty of new standard equipment. Also, there is a completely new 2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid to come, with brand-new electrified powertrain and excellent fuel economy. When it comes to styling, we don’t expect bigger changes. We are about to see a familiar face, although the company could present few new color options, as well as some new wheels design. Still, the core of the changes will be in terms of standard equipment, especially when it comes to Touring trim.

Trim Levels

The 2019 Honda CR-V will continue with the same trim level organization. The base model is called LX. It is the very basic version of the crossover, which doesn’t come with many standard features. Some of the highlights are 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, LED running lights, a 5-inch color LCD dashboard display, and a four-speaker audio system. All in all, a pretty much bare-bone version.

Next in the line is EX trim. This model adds several pieces of standard equipment, but the most important is definitely a bunch of Honda’s advanced safety systems. Those are automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning and intervention, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Also, there is a 7-inch touchscreen, as well as several other multimedia features.

The EX-L seems like an upgraded version of EX trim. It includes all above but adds plenty of comfort and convenience. So, you can count on leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, 8-speaker audio system etc. A navigation system would be a great addition for the next year.

What is the Honda CR-V Touring?

Just like in previous models, the 2019 Honda CR-V Touring will be a top-level version of this capable crossover. It will include all the features from EX-L trim, but also add several additions in the visual aspects. It comes with things like LED headlights, dual chrome exhaust tips, roof rails, automatic wipers, hands-free functionality for the power liftgate, ambient interior lighting etc. Some reports suggest an addition of panoramic sunroof for the next year.

2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid

Probably, the biggest novelty for the next year will be 2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The popular crossover will most likely use the same hybrid powertrain as Accord Hybrid, which means a combination of inline-four gasoline engine and two electric motors. A total output will go over 200 horsepower, while the fuel economy should be as blistering as in the famous sedan, somewhere around 50 mpg.

Rest of the engine lineup will remain the same. Base models will come with a familiar 2.4-liter unit, which is good for about 184 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, an optional 1.5-liter turbo inline-four is good for about 190 horses and 180 pound-feet of torque.
