The popular mid-size crossover is about to continue without bigger changes as 2019 Toyota Highlander. This model has been around for years. The initial launch was in 2000 and we have seen three generations so far. The current model is present since 2013 but we have already seen an update for the 2017 year model. If we consider this recent refresh, it is pretty much for sure that the 2019 Highlander will remain pretty much the same, though we could see some minor novelties in terms of standard equipment and new colors.
2019 Toyota Highlander Specs
When it comes to 2019 Toyota Highlander specs, everything will remain pretty much the same. The 2019 Toyota Highlander changes will be minimal and could only refer to few novelties in terms of standard equipment, eventually in terms of new exterior colors and new color schemes. On the other side, base design characteristics will remain the same. We are about to see a familiar styling, which has been updated last year with novelties on both ends of the crossover. At the front, you can notice new front fascia, as well as reshaped headlights. On the rear end, this update has brought new taillights. Rest of the crossover remained the same.
Is 2019 Toyota Highlander interior going to change?
Same goes for the 2019 Toyota Highlander interior design. A familiar cabin will be present once again. It dates from the initial launch in 2013 and should carry on without bigger changes in next few years. Still, few novelties in terms of color schemes are possible, as well as more standard features.
This mid-size crossover is organized in six trim levels. All of them will continue in the next year, though each one could receive few novelties. In the current version, the base LE trim is the most basic option. It comes with standard features like 18-inch wheels, heated mirrors, 6.1-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB ports etc. It also includes Toyota Safety Sense Package, with systems like automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane departure intervention, and Toyota’s Pre-Collision System, which bundles forward collision detection with automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera etc.
The next one is LE Plus. It adds few useful things like foglights, tri-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration etc.
The XLE trim seems like a good value for the money. It adds a sunroof, roof rails, leather upholstery, blind spot monitoring, power-adjustable seats, navigation and much more.
If you want to add few styling upgrades, the SE trim offers 19-inch wheels, LED lighting, as well as some minor tweaks to bodywork.
A real luxury will start with 2019 Toyota Highlander Limited rear parking sensors, a rear cargo cover, heated and ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory settings, heated second-row captain’s chairs etc. The Limited Platinum goes even further and includes things like 360-degree camera, heated rear seats, optional rear-seat entertainment system and much more.
2019 Toyota Highlander engines
There will be three powertrain options for the North American market. Base 2019 Toyota Highlander models will come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, which is good for about 185 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
An optional V6 offers far more power. It has a displacement of 3.5 liters and delivers 295 horses and 263 pound-feet of torque. This one comes in pair with 8-speed automatic gearbox.
How about the 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Finally, there is a 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. This version comes with an advanced system that combines a V6 gasoline engine with three electric motors. Total output goes around 306 horses. Besides plenty of power, it also features pretty impressive numbers in terms of fuel economy, which go up 30 miles per gallon.
2019 Toyota Highlander release date and price
The 2019 Toyota Highlander will come late in the year. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, so it should go in a range between 31.000 and 48.500 dollars.
