Considering the fact that this small crossover came less than a year ago, we definitely won’t see any bigger change for the 2019 BMW X2. This is one of the newest additions to the company’s lineup. At the time of SUV expansion, every company tries to offer as much as possible models with such characteristics. This one comes in a manner that seems familiar with the even-numbered BMW models. It has a lot in common with the more familiar X1, but also comes with some different styling solutions. The upcoming model is about to come in a familiar manner, with pretty much the same list of standard equipment, so we expect to see it late in the year.
2019 BMW X2 Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, there is nothing to be changed. Simply, this will be the second year of production of this crossover, so it is easy to guess how it’s going to look like. Introduced in November of 2017, this model comes heavily based on the company’s entry-level X1 model, but with different styling. More precisely, it features a sleeker profile and sloping roof, something that is usual for BMW crossovers with even numbers in their designation. Therefore, it is less practical in some aspects, which BMW intentionally sacrifices in order to get a more attractive look.
How spacious is 2019 BMW X2?
As we mentioned, the practicality is definitely the weakest point of this crossover but we doubt that this thing will bother potential 2019 BMW X2 buyers. Although it features the same 105.1-inch wheelbase as X1, it is shorter, which results in less interior space. While front seats offer a solid amount of legroom, rear seats are pretty tight. On the other side, cargo space seems pretty much ok. You can count on 21 cubic feet behind the rear seats. Once you fold them down, the capacity goes up to 50 cubic feet, which is a pretty solid number for the class.
Which tech features does BMW X2 offer?
The 2019 BMW X2 interior might not be the most spacious one, but it definitely offers a lot of tech features. The base models come with a 6.5-inch screen, while a bigger 8.8-inch touchscreen is available in higher trim levels. In both cases, you can count on a pretty intuitive infotainment system, which is easy to use. Other notable tech features that come in the base model are Bluetooth, USB, 6-speaker audio system and automatic climate control. In higher trims, you can also count on smartphone integration, 12-speaker audio system, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation and much more.
2019 BMW X2 Engines
The engine lineup is pretty much the same as for the X1 model. You can count on the company’s large palette of gasoline and diesel engines. In North America, base models come with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Still, the 2019 BMW X2 M would be a far better choice for those who want something sportier. This version features the same four-cylinder engine but tuned up to 302 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.
In Europe, you can find three diesel options, with either 148, 188 or 228 horsepower. Also, there is a smaller 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 138 horses and 162 pound-feet of torque. Depending on the engine and market, transmission is either 8-speed automatic or 7-speed DCT, while European drivers can go for a 6-speed manual as well.
2019 BMW X2 Release Date and Price
Expect to see a new model late in the year. The 2019 BMW X2 price should remain unchanged, which means around 38.000 dollars for the base model.
