Initially planned for other parts of the world, this subcompact crossover entered U.S. market last year. Naturally, there are no bigger changes for the 2019 Ford EcoSport, which represents the second production year of the model that arrived in North America. It is actually part of the second generation that came five years ago. So, the biggest novelties for the upcoming years are few more standard features and a couple of new color options. Other than that, the EcoSport continues with a familiar design, featuring attractive styling in a combination with good dynamics. Also, this model offers plenty of practicality, as well as some features that usually aren’t available in such small vehicles.
2019 Ford EcoSport Design
As we already mentioned, this crossover came to North America last year. It is a subcompact crossover, the company’s new entry-level model in the SUV segment. The model is based on the prev-generation Fiesta’s B3 platform, which offers decent driving dynamics and solid overall quality. Still, the biggest quality of this crossover is its interior design. The first thing that you’ll notice is a quite decent quality of all materials on the inside, which is a little bit surprising considering that the model initially came to specific abroad markets. Of course, you can bet on lots of hard plastics and similar low-grade materials, but that is a pretty common thing for this class.
How practical is Ford EcoSport?
Practicality is probably the strongest point of this small crossover. Even at a glance, you can notice that its rear end features quite a boxy shape, which provides lots of cargo space. The 2019 Ford EcoSport is among class leaders in this aspect. You can count on 21 cubic feet behind rear seats and a total capacity of 50 cubic feet. When it comes to rear seats, legroom might be a little tight, but you definitely won’t lack in headroom.
2019 Ford EcoSport Trim Levels
When it comes to 2019 Ford EcoSport configurations, you can count on four trim levels – S, SE, SE S, and Titanium.
The base S trim comes with a decent load of standard equipment. There are things like 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, a rearview camera, cruise control, 4.2-inch display, six-speaker audio system etc.
The 2019 Ford EcoSport is a bit of an upgrade and probably the most popular version of this crossover. It adds fog lights, LED running lights, keyless entry, and ignition, automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver’s seat, 6.5-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration etc.
If you are for something sportier, the SE S should be your choice. Bigger wheels, sport-tuned suspension, rear spoiler, blacked exterior are some of the exterior upgrades. On the inside, you get paddle shifters, upgraded leather upholstery with leather accents etc.
Finally, there is a luxury trim called Titanium. This one comes with features like leather upholstery, chrome exterior trim, body-colored bumpers, heated mirrors, automatic wipers, 8-inch touchscreen and much more.
2019 Ford EcoSport Engines
Two engines are available in the EcoSport. Base models feature a 1.0-liter unit with 123 hp and 125 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, the SE S comes with a 2.0-liter unit, which is good for about 166 horses and 150 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to 2019 Ford EcoSport mpg ratings, count 27 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway with a smaller 1.0-liter unit.
2019 Ford EcoSport Release Date and Price
The next-year model is already available. Of course, the price depends on the market. The North American 2019 Ford EcoSport MSRP goes in a range between 20.000 and 27.000 dollars.
