If we can trust the latest reports, it looks like the likable boxy crossover is coming back as 2019 Honda Element. In the early 2000s, this was one of the most interesting models around, which perfectly combined interesting styling concept with practicality. The initial 2003-year model was very successful. Several years later, though, sales started to decline.
So, slow sales were the main reason for discontinuation in 2011. Since then, we are hearing rumors about the redesign. It looks like the company is finally going to take another try with this model. The new version will probably keep the similar base design approach, but it should also come with plenty of improvements in all those aspects that were considered as drawbacks at the time when this model was active. Some reports suggest 2019 Element’s arrival already in the next year, though you should take this with a dose of a reserve.
2019 Honda Element Design
Speaking of the base design solution, we expect to see the same approach as for the original model. The new Honda Element 2019 should come with a familiar boxy approach, which is about to get some enhancement though. Just like the original, the new model should be closely related to Civic, which in this case mean a lot of use of lightweight materials like aluminum. This means an improved efficiency and much more.
In terms of styling, expect to see a familiar shape, which doesn’t have much in common with other crossovers in the class. We could see some styling cues of the company’s new design language, but the overall shape should be pretty unique.
Will the 2019 Honda Element feature outward back door design?
We hope it will. This was one of the main characteristics of the original model. Though many referred to so-called “suicide doors”, this design is a little bit different and it doesn’t allow rear doors to open until front doors are not opened as well. Benefits of such design are numerous, mostly about easier access to the rear bench and more options for loads and unload.
2019 Honda Element Interior
The 2019 Honda Element interior will be pretty much all about practicality. Thanks to its boxy shape, you can expect plenty of room on the inside. The tailgate and doors will feature almost completely rectangular shape, which will allow loads of large objects as well.
At the front, the 2019 Honda Element should utilize the company’s new dashboard design, of course with some modifications. We will see plenty of quality materials, while many controls will be digitalized. The new model should be well-equipped in terms of safety features too. Expect things like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist etc.
2019 Honda Element Engines
In terms of powertrain, we presume that the base 2019 Honda Element will probably come with a familiar 2.4-liter engine, which is good for about 184 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque.
A far better choice would be an optional 1.5-liter turbo inline-four. This one delivers a similar amount of power but offers far better fuel economy and overall efficiency.
Finally, we could see a hybrid powertrain in the offer as well. It should be the same system that powers new Accord. It delivers around 212 horsepower and provides superior fuel economy that goes close to 50 miles per gallon.
When will 2019 Honda Element arrive and how much could cost?
At the moment, we are still waiting for the official confirmation of the new model. However, some reports already suggest 2019 Honda Element release date sometime in the next year. When it comes to the 2019 Honda Element price, we believe that the base model will go somewhere around 25.000 dollars.
