The company’s smallest crossover is about to come with plenty of novelties for the next year. We are about to see an update of the current generation, which will bring several cosmetical changes, new standard features, as well as a new version with a new engine, called 2019 Honda HR-V Turbo.
The current model is present for about four years, so we could say this is a perfect time to see some changes. The new 2019 HR-V Turbo will be the biggest one, though changes in terms of styling are very interesting too.
2019 Honda HR-V Turbo engine
The biggest novelty for the next year is definitely a new powertrain. The 2019 Honda HR-V Turbo engine will come with significantly more power than the base model. It will feature a familiar 1.5-liter turbo inline-four unit, which has been offered in new-generation Civic as well. A max output goes around 180 horsepower, which promises much better performances.
Base models will continue with a familiar 1.8-liter naturally-aspirated unit. This engine is good for about 140 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque and comes in pair with a CVT.
How is fast 2019 Honda HR-V Turbo going to be?
With significant power increase, we expect to see fairly better numbers in terms of acceleration on 2019 Honda HR-V Turbo. For example, the base model needs around 9.5 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. With the new engine, this small crossover should be better at least for a second, if not even more.
2019 Honda HR-V Turbo comes with visual upgrades
The 2019 Honda HR-V Turbo changes will be the same as on base models. As we’ve already mentioned, the company prepares a mid-cycle refresh for the next year, which will bring a lot of styling novelties. Of course, the focus is on the front. The new front end will include things like new front fascia, new grille design, sharper headlights and much more. Besides new front end, there is a new wheels design too. On the other side, the rear of the vehicle will remain largely unchanged.
The cabin of the 2019 Honda HR-V Turbo will remain largely unchanged. We are about to see the same dashboard design, as well as the rest of the cabin. Still, we could see novelties in terms of new color schemes. When it comes to equipment, we will see some interesting novelties. There is a new Sport trim to come, while other trim levels should get additional standard equipment.
At the moment, we can’t say which will be the main characteristics of the new Sport trim. Most likely, we will see few unique visual details and unique list of standard equipment.
Rest of the trim levels will be unchanged. There are LX, EX and EX-L Navi. The base LX comes with standard features like 17-inch wheels, 5-inch display, rearview camera, Bluetooth, USB, 4-speaker audio system etc.
A mid-level EX adds things like a sunroof, foglights, heated front seats, automatic climate control, blind-spot camera, 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, six-speaker audio etc.
Finally, there is an EX-L Navi trim, which includes all above but also adds plenty of stuff. Some of the highlights are things like roof rails, navigation, leather upholstery, voice control etc.
When can we expect a hybrid version?
We’ve been hearing stories about 2019 Honda HR-V Hybrid for some time. However, there is still no official confirmation, so we can’t say anything more precise. If you want to rely on rumors, some of them suggest next year for possible arrival, but there are no details about powertrain.
2019 Honda HR-V Turbo release date and price
The 2019 Honda HR-V Turbo release date is scheduled for this fall. We still don’t know the exact price, though some reports suggest new model will be available at 22.000 dollars.
