Only three years after the redesign, the company already prepared a facelift that will come for the 2019 Hyundai Tucson model. The popular crossover has been around for years. The original model was introduced in 2005 and there have been three generations so far. The current model is present since 2015 and it gets some nice updates for the next year. Of course, the focus is on the styling, but 2019 Tucson gets significant interior updates as well. On the other side, the powertrain is about to remain the same.
2019 Hyundai Tucson Changes
We will start this 2019 Hyundai Tucson review with the most notable changes that were presented at the recent car show in New York. This was pretty much a classic mid-cycle update, with styling changes in the focus. The new version gets updated with the company’s newest design language. Of course, most of the changes are at the front. You can easily notice Hyundai’s new cascade grille. Also, there are new headlights, front fascia, as well as new taillights, exhaust pipes etc.
This facelift brings a lot of novelties on the inside as well. The 2019 Hyundai Tucson changes on the inside are mostly about new dashboard layout. The center part has been redesigned completely. A new touchscreen design seems to be the most notable new feature. It is standard across the whole range. Also, a rearview mirror, seats, and instrument cluster have been updated. Finally, the 2019 Hyundai Tucson interior gets a new suite of tech features. A new 7-inch touchscreen is a standard across the whole lineup, as well as smartphone integration and voice control.
How many trim levels are in the offer?
In terms of base equipment organization, we won’t see bigger changes. There is four version in the offer – SE, SEL, Sport and Limited.
The base SE model comes with standard features like 17-inch wheels, new 7-inch touchscreen interface, keyless entry, and ignition etc. Also, you can count on several safety systems, such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a backup camera with dynamic guidelines. Other advanced systems like blind-spot collision warning system or rear cross-traffic warning are available as options.
The SEL trim adds several interesting things, but the biggest upgrade is actually a more powerful engine.
On the other side, Sport trim seems perfect for those who seek for visual enhancements. Compared to base models, this version adds a lot of new exterior parts, including 19-inch wheels, LED lighting, unique interior trim and much more.
Finally, there is a top-range Limited trim level. This one comes with things like navigation, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, automatic cruise control, panoramic sunroof, as well as numerous visual upgrades.
2019 Hyundai Tucson Engines
Under the hood, the 2019 Hyundai Tucson continues in the same way. The base model comes with an atmospheric 2.0-liter gasoline unit which delivers around 164 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. An optional 2.4-liter unit is available already in the SEL trim. It features a max output of 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come in a pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to front wheels. An AWD version is available as an option.
2019 Hyundai Tucson Release Date and Price
Though we still don’t have official information about the release date, the new model should come in the next few months. When it comes to the 2019 Hyundai Tucson price, expect similar range as for the current model, which goes between 22.500 and 31.000 dollars, roughly.
Which models are the biggest rivals?
This segment is highly competitive, full of quality crossovers. Some of the key players in the segment are models like Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Ford Escape, Subaru Forester, Toyota Rav4, Chevy Equinox etc.
