Mazda’s biggest crossover is about to come with few interesting updates for the next year, as 2019 Mazda CX-9. This popular mid-size crossover has been around for about two years, in current form.
The original model came in 2006 and it was in production until 2016. The new, second-generation came as a replacement and features plenty of new design solutions. Considering relatively recent arrival, it is hard to expect bigger changes for the next year. The 2019 CX-9 will represent the third year model of the current generation and it will most likely come with few novelties under the hood. It will arrive by the end of 2018.
2019 Mazda CX-9 Changes
This 2019 Mazda CX-9 review will focus on most important novelties for the next year. The 2019 Mazda CX-9 changes won’t be numerous but will be pretty interesting. The focus is on engines. Besides powertrain, we could see novelties in terms of equipment. On the other side, styling and interior design should carry over without bigger changes.
2019 Mazda CX-9 Comes with Updated Diesel Engine
Although North American drivers prefer gasoline engines, diesel units are largely popular around the world. Thanks to great efficiency, the most popular version of this crossover is usually one with a diesel engine. The 2019 Mazda CX-9 diesel will get few novelties that will improve efficiency even more. The company will install new pistons, which will provide both more power and better economy. According to the latest reports, a new version of the engine will feature around 190 horsepower, which is for about 15 horses more than the current version.
2019 Mazda CX-9 Gasoline Engines Will Also Get Improvements
The updated SkyActiv technology will also affect gasoline engines. These units should also get new pistons design, though we still don’t have exact numbers when it comes to max output and fuel economy. In the current shape, the base 2.0-liter engine is good for about 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, a bigger 2,5-liter unit is good for about 185 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will continue with familiar 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions.
Which engine is offered in North America?
Unlike the rest of the world, North American drivers enjoy benefits of a turbocharger. The same 2,5-liter gasoline unit, in this case, comes with a turbo, which increases max output up to 250 horses, depending on fuel.
2019 Mazda CX-9 Trim Levels
Despite possible novelties in terms of standard equipment, the base organization will remain the same. There will be four trim levels in the offer – Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature.
