Times when pickup trucks were nothing more than working mules are behind us for many years. A few decades ago, North American manufacturers started to offer models that besides excellent working capabilities also offer plenty of comforts and standard equipment. However, these model still remained in the mainstream segment. This model changes the game completely. With all respect to Ford and Ram and their hi-level versions, this is the first real premium truck on the market. It is a mid-size pickup that comes with lots of luxury. The original launch was a year ago and now it seems that this model is finally coming to North America. For this occasion, we will see a few tweaks, including some chassis modifications and probably a new engine in the offer. Expect to see 2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class by the end of the year.
2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class Design
In terms of base design characteristics, this model is pretty familiar. It borrows the platform from Nissan Navara, a well-known mid-size truck outside the United States. The two models share a lot of mechanics, but there is a bunch of unique details too. For the next year, 2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class will debut in North America and some minimal tweaks are possible. We could see a few novelties on suspension, as well as some minor reinforcements to provide better towing ratings.
2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class Styling
In terms of styling, this is a genuine Mercedes-Benz. It completely follows the brand’s newest design language, which can be seen in models like GLA, GLC and etc. Of course, there are some unique details as well. After all, this is a classic body-on-frame vehicle and there aren’t many of these in the company’s lineup. According to some reports, the German manufacturer prepares a new version of the truck for the U.S. market. It looks like we are about to see a little bit stretched wheelbase, along with longer cargo bed.
2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class Interior
On the inside, this truck is a real representative of the one of the world’s most famous luxury carmaker. Count of a very comfortable and attractive-looking cabin design, full of hi-end materials. Of course, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class won’t be available in a single-row version, but in a double cab variant only. The dashboard comes in the brand’s classic manner, with easily recognizable air vents and a set of straight lines. Just like in the most of new Mercedes-Benz models, there is a nice, tablet-like touchscreen interface.
2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class Engines
Considering that U.S. drivers prefer gasoline, the company will probably introduce some new engine for the next year. The current model comes with only one, 2.0-liter liter gasoline engine that delivers around 165 horsepower.
Also, there are two diesel units in the offer. A smaller 2.3-liter engine comes in two output variants, with either 160 or 190 horsepower. On the other side, a powerful 3.0-liter V6 is good for about 255 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque. All three engines come with either 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission.
Which gasoline engine could find its place under the hood of 2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class?
We expect to see at least one more gasoline engine in the offer. That could easily a 2.0-liter unit with 250 horsepower. Some reports suggest AMG versions as well. In that case, a 3.0-liter V6 with 360 horsepower seems very likely. Moreover, few reports go even that far that 2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class could come with a V8 engine as well.
2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class Release Date and Price
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz X-class should come by the end of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go somewhere between 35.000 and 40.000 dollars.
