Once a nameplate that represents dynamic sports cars, the Eclipse is now in use for a completely different type of vehicle. Recently, the Japanese manufacturer introduced a completely new crossover under this name. It is a compact SUV that perfectly balances between style and practicality. Considering that the 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse will represent the second production year, it seems unlikely to see bigger changes. The fresh crossover will continue in the same way, featuring the same styling and other design characteristics. Still, a few reports suggest an addition of a new engine on some markets. Of course, few more color options and a few more standard features also seem likely. Expect to see 2019 Eclipse in a month or two.
2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Design
Surprisingly, the familiar nameplate is now used for a crossover. The 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse crossover is the newest addition to the lineup of the Japanese manufacturer. It came a year ago, so it seems unlikely to see bigger changes so soon. This crossover rides on a familiar GS platform. In terms of size, it is a compact crossover which sits between Outlander and Outlander Sport in the company’s lineup. Still, it offers a pretty spacious interior and that is probably one of the strongest points of the new Eclipse. In terms of styling, you can count on a pretty modern design approach. Although a very fresh model, this crossover may look kinda familiar to you. That is because it relies on the XR-PHEV concept. More precisely, the company has presented two concepts under this name, in only two years, 2013 and 2015.
The 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross interior will also continue in the same way. This model offers a cabin that looks good but also offers plenty of functionality. You can count on a more than decent interior space, including the second row of seating. Also, you can count on pretty generous cargo space, as well as on the pretty high quality of interior materials, including plenty of soft-touch plastic on the dashboard and center console.
Is Mitsubishi Eclipse a well-equipped crossover?
Definitely yes. Even in the most basic models, you can count on a lot of standard equipment. Some of the highlights are things like 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, four-speaker audio system, cruise control, Bluetooth, USB, 7-inch touchscreen and much more. In highest trims, you can also get standard features like a panoramic sunroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror 9-speaker audio system, as well as lots of safety systems. Some of the highlights are automatic high beams, lane departure warning, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking etc.
2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Engines
The current model comes with only one engine in the offer in North America. It is a 1.5-liter gasoline unit that is good for 152 hp and 184 lb-ft. Without any doubt, this engine is very efficient and delivers some pretty good numbers in terms of fuel economy. However, it seems underpowered compared to the competition. So, next year could bring another, bigger gasoline engine to the offer. However, we are still waiting to hear something from officials.
On some other markets, this crossover is also available in a diesel version. It features a familiar 2.2-liter unit, which is good for about 180 horsepower.
2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Release Date and Price
We won’t see bigger changes on the 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse, so late 2018 seems likely when it comes to releasing date. When it comes to the 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse price, base models will go around 23.000 dollars. Competition in the segment is tough. Some of the key players in the segment are Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, Mazda CX-5, Toyota Rav4 etc.
