The famous Swedish carmaker has several crossovers in the offer and this one definitely looks most attractive. This compact crossover originally came in 2007. After a full decade of production, the redesign finally happened last year. Considering that the current second-generation model is still very fresh, we don’t expect bigger changes for the 2019 Volvo XC60. Moreover, it will come completely the same in terms of design. The only notable changes will be in terms of standard features.
2019 Volvo XC60 Changes
This compact luxury crossover has been redesigned recently. It now rides on the company’s new SPA architecture, which is used for models like S80 and S90 as well. Compared to the previous generation, the new one is more athletic and features far more attractive look. If we consider that this will be the second year of production, the 2019 Volvo XC60 changes should be minimal. Latest reports suggest that the biggest novelties will be in terms of new standard equipment. Though the base trim level organization is about to remain unchanged, each version should get few novelties. So, things like parking assistance, 14-speaker stereo, blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry, and drive, power-folding rear outer head restraints and similar things should become standard features now. Other than the things will remain the same.
In which trims will 2019 Volvo XC60 be available?
As we’ve already mentioned, the base trim level organization is about to remain the same. This would mean following 2019 Volvo XC60 configurations:
The base Momentum trim already comes with a pretty long list of standard equipment. Some of the highlights are things like 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, automatic high beams, roof rails etc. On the inside, you can count on things like 10-speaker audio system, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 9-speaker audio system etc. This manufacturer is well known for excellent safety, so you can count on advanced systems like lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation and protection, oncoming collision avoidance/mitigation with bike/pedestrian/animal detection, driver attention alert, road sign recognition and similar things already in the base model.
The next one is called R-Design. It includes all the features from Momentum trim and also adds various things like LED fog lights, paddle shifters, selectable drive modes, keyless entry, navigation, sports seats, bigger 19-inch wheels and much more.
Finally, there is a top-range model, known as Inscription. It comes with 20-inch wheels, four-zone climate control, leather-wrapped dashboard and many other things.
2019 Volvo XC60 Engines
This crossover is characterized by a very wide offer of engines. For the North American market, there are three powertrains in the offer. Base models will come with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The same engine comes in a very interesting configuration that combines turbo and supercharger. A total output goes up to 316 horsepower.
Finally, there is a 2019 Volvo XC60 Hybrid. This powertrain consists of the same turbo/supercharged gasoline engine and gets a huge help from a hi-output 87-hp electric motor. So, a total amount of power goes up to 400 horses and 472 lb-ft of torque.
In parts of the world like Europe, oil-burners play an important role. So, there is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that comes in two output variants, with either 190 or 235 horsepower.
When will 2019 Volvo XC60 arrive?
The 2019 Volvo XC60 release date is scheduled for the end of the year. The new model will hit the market most likely in December. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes compared to the current model, which goes in a range between 41.000 and 57.000 dollars, roughly.
