The popular luxury compact crossover just came completely redesigned so most of us wouldn’t expect bigger changes for the second year of production. However, the Japanese manufacturer thinks different, so we are about to see novelties for the 2020 Acura RDX as well. Of course, we won’t see any significant change, but the latest reports suggest that we are about to see a new powertrain choice, and maybe even a new, performance version. Other than that, the 2020 RDX is about to continue in the same way. Base characteristics will remain unchanged, including styling, interior design standard features and much more.
Which are the novelties for the 2020 Acura RDX?
Most likely, the biggest novelty for the next year will be 2020 Acura RDX Hybrid. The compact crossover has been available with gasoline engines only so far, and this option will bring a much wider choice and make the crossover more approachable to those economy-minded drivers. Even this is a luxury car, fuel plays an important role. Most likely, it will be the same powertrain that the company uses for new Honda Accord. This means a combination of a gasoline four-cylinder engine and a couple of electric motors. A total output goes around 212 horsepower, which seems pretty good, considering the fuel economy, which in the legendary sedan goes to almost 50 miles per gallon.
Besides the new hybrid powertrain, some reports suggest a performance-oriented Type S trim level arrive as well. However, we still haven’t got any reliable information about this version, so it seems a little bit too early to speculate.
2020 Acura RDX Specs
When it comes to base 2020 Acura RDX specs, we won’t see any change. The recent redesign has brought some changes in terms of dimensions. More precisely, the new model is now bigger. It also features a 2.5-inch longer wheelbase, which brings benefits in many ways. Of course, the recent redesign has also brought a completely new styling, which follows all the latest design solutions of Acura’s new design language, though we must admit that the overall shape isn’t much different compared to the previous model.
2020 Acura RDX Interior
As we’ve already mentioned, the new generation of this small crossover comes with two additional inches of the wheelbase, which is easily notable on the inside. There is more legroom, especially at rear seats. The 2020 Acura RDX interior will remain largely unchanged. You can count on plenty of hi-quality materials, as well as on a pretty long list of standard equipment. Base models will come with things like a panoramic moonroof, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a nine-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, smartphone integration etc. The thing that separates this crossover from the crowd is a long list of standard safety features, which includes things like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, and lane departure warning etc.
2020 Acura RDX Engine
Besides the new hybrid version, the 2020 Acura RDX will continue with the same gasoline engine. With the recent redesign, this crossover has dropped a large V6 and turned to a far more efficient four-cylinder engine. It is the Honda’s new 2.0-liter unit, which powers the new-generation Accord. An amazing efficiency is a thing that characterizes this engine. A max output goes around 272 hp but more importantly, it delivers around 40% more low-end torque compared to the large V6 unit. Of course, it comes in pair with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox. Also, you can count on an NSX-inspired Integrated Dynamic System with various drive modes.
2020 Acura RDX Release Date and Price
The 2020 Acura RDX should hit the market late in the next year. When it comes to the 2020 Acura RDX price, base models should continue to go around 37.000, while the new hybrid version will go slightly higher.
