The famous full-size luxury SUV is about to come completely redesigned as 2020 Cadillac Escalade. This model has been around for almost two decades. The initial launch was in 1999 and we have seen four generations of it so far. The current model is present since 2014 and will be replaced in the next year. For this occasion, GM prepares a lot of novelties, which include not just new styling and platform, but other design solutions as well, which will make this SUV more competitive. According to the latest reports, the 2020 Escalade should be ready by the end of next year.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Redesign
The 2020 Cadillac Escalade redesign is about to bring a lot of novelties. Of course, the most important thing about the new model is a new architecture. It will be a special version of the company’s recently-introduced T1 platform. At first, there was a plan for this architecture to be used for both mid-size and full-size models, but latest reports suggest it will underprint full-size vehicles only. This means a complete lineup including Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Sierra etc.
This redesign will bring changes in size too. The new 2020 Cadillac Escalade will be for about 6.5 inches longer and also for 2.7 inches wider. A wheelbase will be longer for about 4.7 inches. Another important novelty is an independent rear suspension, which will be a standard feature. Such a design will provide superior comfort, but better driving characteristics as well.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Styling
Every redesign brings a lot of novelties in terms of visual appearance and this one won’t be an exception at all. We will see a completely new exterior design, which will take some inspiration from recently-presented Escala sedan. Basically, the new SUV should come with a similar face, which will feature those new, extremely narrow headlights and other lighting groups, as well as a new grill design. The overall shape should be a little bit less angular, but sleeker as well, which will provide better aerodynamics too.
The 2020 Cadillac Escalade interior will also receive a lot of changes. Thanks to the new platform, we will see more space on the inside, especially for rear passengers. Another novelty will be a new design of third rows, with seats which can fold flat. Such design will bring a lot of benefits in terms of practicality, especially when it comes to cargo volume. Of course to see other improvements on the inside, including higher-quality materials, new tech features and much more.
Are we going to see a truck version of Cadillac Escalade again?
According to some reports, the company could bring back this version as 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT. It is a pickup truck version of this SUV, which was in production for about seven years, between 2002 and 2009.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Engines
Another important novelty for 2020 Cadillac Escalade will be a new engine. GM is about to launch a completely new eight-cylinder unit, which won’t be related to current engines. It is a 4.2-liter engine, which comes with twin turbochargers. Though exact details are still unknown, latest reports suggest that a max output will go around 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. We expect to see this engine in pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
A familiar 6.2-liter V8 unit will probably carry over, but this time in some hi-output variant, designed for the potential performance version.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Release Date
Though it is still early to speak about some more precise 2020 Cadillac Escalade release date, it seems very likely that the new SUV will come in the fall of 2019.
How much will 2020 Cadillac Escalade cost?
Most likely, the 2020 Cadillac Escalade price will be slightly higher. Some reports suggest that the new base model will figure around 78.000 dollars.
