After this year’s introduction of the all-new Silverado, Chevy will focus on SUV department in the next year. Therefore, we are counting on a completely new 2020 Chevy Tahoe to come. Lots of novelties are expected with this redesign.

The fifth generation of the famous full-size SUV will come with a new platform, new styling and plenty of other novelties. Some of them will come under the hood as well. GM is renewing complete SUV lineup, so the next year will also bring new generations of models like Suburban and GMC Yukon, as well as the new version of the luxurious Cadillac Escalade.

2020 Chevy Tahoe Redesign

The new 2020 Chevy Tahoe is about to come with lots of novelties. Of course, a new platform is an inevitable part of every redesign. The new Tahoe will adopt GM’s new T1 architecture, which undeprints the new Silverado. Compared to the previous generation, the new model will come with a plethora of improvements. One of the first things that come to mind is weight reduction. We expect that the new model will be for about 300 pounds lighter. Of course, this will be highly beneficial in terms of fuel economy and overall driving dynamics. Also, the latest reports suggest that the 2020 Chevy Tahoe will get a few more inches in the wheelbase, which should finally solve those interior issues of the current model. Of course, a long-wheelbase Suburban will come pretty much along with the new Tahoe.

Spy Shots

The new generation has been spotted and the 2020 Chevy Tahoe spy photos definitely have some interesting things to show. First of all, we should say that the new model is completely camouflaged, so we can’t see almost anything when it comes to the styling.

On the other side, GM hasn’t covered the underbody area. Accidentally or on purpose, the new model clearly shows an independent rear suspension. Rivals from Ford already feature such design, so Chevy definitely wants to keep the pace. It may sound strange to see such suspension in a body-on-frame SUV, but even these vehicles are spending far more time on the road, so comfort is definitely on focus.

2020 Chevy Tahoe Styling

As we already mentioned, the testing model still wears a complete camouflage, so it seems way too early for some more specific details about the styling. Still, we can easily presume that the new model is about to keep a similar, common wagon body style. Some reports suggest a new 2020 Chevy Tahoe 2-door version, but this doesn’t sound very likely at the moment.

In terms of the design language, we have no doubt that the front end will have a lot of similarities with the new Silverado, probably almost identical face. Some of the interesting technical solutions that we definitely count on are new air curtains, positioned on both sides of the front bumper. Such design provides much better airflow and overall aerodynamics, which in practice means better fuel economy, less noise inside the cabin and many other benefits.

How will new 2020 Chevy Tahoe look on the inside?

When it comes to the 2020 Chevy Tahoe interior, we don’t expect to see many drastic changes. Moreover, we are pretty sure that the new Tahoe, as well as the new Suburban, will follow Silverado’s example, which came with quite a similar cabin design. The dashboard will get mild reshaping, but don’t count on any spectacular design change. Still, count on finer materials and more attractive color combinations. When it comes overall layout, we will see the same three-row design. Latest reports suggest that we are about to see a little bit longer wheelbase. We hope that the new model will finally solve issues with the third row, which is currently too tight for the class.

2020 Chevy Tahoe Engines

With the new platform, the 2020 Chevy Tahoe will get the ability to accommodate more engines. One of the biggest novelty will be a new 2.7-liter turbo inline-four, which delivers around 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

Also, there is a big chance to see a new 3.0-diesel in the offer. This unit should be good for about 280 horses and 440 pound-feet of torque.

Besides two new units, familiar V8 engines should carry on without bigger changes. A familiar 5.3-liter V8 is good for about 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. A bigger 6.2-liter unit is good for about 420 horses and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Depending on the engine choice, you can count on 8- or 10-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Chevy Tahoe Release Date and Price

Though it is still early to talk about a more precise 2020 Chevy Tahoe release date, we count that the new model will hit the market sometime in the third quarter of the next year. Still, it won’t be a surprise to see some 2020 Chevy Tahoe concept version in the first half, as some kind of a preview. Base models should go around 50.000 dollars.
