The auto industry is moving forward and Ford management is perfectly aware of this fact. Therefore, it’s no wonder that its best-selling model will soon get a hybrid powertrain, despite the fact that we are talking about a pickup truck. Even still primarily a work machine, 2020 Ford F-150 will come with improvements that will make it more economical and more environment-friendly, without sacrificing performances.
At this point, we know that the 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid is definitely coming. However, more precise details about the powertrain are still kept as a secret. Besides the hybrid version, the company complete electrification as well. Of course, this model won’t come so soon. Most likely, it will be ready for the second half of next decade, in some of the future generations of the legendary truck.
2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid Powertrain
This will be the biggest novelty for the 2020 Ford F-150 by far. Of course, it is still early to talk about details, but we definitely know that the new version will be built in the company’s famousDearborn factory, which currently employs around 7.500 people and definitely has a capacity for such venture. Allegedly, the company is going to invest millions of dollars to upgrade this 100-year old facility.
Boston company called XL already works on electrification of Ford’s engines. Those are familiar 3.3 and 2.7-liter V6unis, but we expect to see something more powerful for this occasion. So, count on eight cylinders under the hood of 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid. It should be a well-known 5.0-liter Coyote, which is its current version delivers around 395horsepower. So, we may presume that the new powertrain will be very powerful.
2020 Ford F-150 Design
Besides the new hybrid version, the 2020Ford F-150 will keep familiar design characteristics. The current generation is on the market since 2014 and we expect from it to carry on for another couple of years. It even received a facelift last year, which included various styling upgrades. Of course, the focus was on the front end, where you can see different headlights, grille design and more.
Therefore, it’s not hard to make a conclusion that the upcoming model will come with familiar characteristics. This includes a technical aspect of the truck as well. Count on same aluminum/HSSchassis and body, as well as on familiar body styles and bed sizes. We expect to see similar updates as for the new 2019 year model, with come with more standard equipment, while higher trims also received bigger fuel tank. Also, itis important to mention that the recent update has brought a new Ford F-150 Diesel model, with a new oil burner.
2020 Ford F-150 Interior
When it comes to the interior design, most of the characteristics will remain completely the same. This primarily refers to the base layout. We count on three familiar body styles, known as regular, SuperCab and SuperCrew. Besides three cab designs, there are three-bed sizes in the offer. Standard bed size is 6 feet and 6 inches. Single-row models are also available with a long, 8-feet bed. Crew cab models (SuperCrew) come with either standard or short bed (5 feet 6 inches).
In terms of the interior quality, there is not too much to complain about. All materials are pretty good, though some rivals like new Ram 1500 definitely feature finer materials and more upscale overall cabin. Still, keep in mind that 2020 Ford F-150 Interior will be among the oldests in class. We definitely don’t expect changes on the inside, expceptnew color schemes, probably.
While the interor design starts to show its age, a list of standard equipment in on a pretty high level. Base trim level organization definitely won’t be changed. So, XL and XLT models will continue as bare bones, while Lariat trim is about to continue to feature a great balance between price and amount of features. King Ranch adds a bit of a western flavor, but a few more standard features as well. The 2020 Ford F-150 Platinum is a real step to luxury, with all those aluminum and wood surfaces on the inside. Finally, there is the Limited version, which comes with pretty much everything Ford has to offer for this truck.
2020 Ford F-150 Engines
As we already mentioned, a new hybrid powertrain is coming. A new 3.0-liter Diesel unit already came. It delivers around 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. Rest of the lineup is quite familiar. The offer starts with an older-generation 3.3-liter V6 with around 290 horses. Then you have a choice of two more advances six-cylinder EcoBoost units, with either 325 or 375 horsepower. Finally, the offer ends with already-mentioned5.0-liter V8 Coyote, which is good for 395 horsepower. All engines except the base 3.3-liter unit will come in a pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Ford F-150 Release Date and Price
Because of the new Hybrid version, expect to see 2020 FordF-150 release date a little bit earlier than usual. Most likely, this will happen in the third quarter of next year. Price should remain the same, which means around 29.000 for the base model.
