The announced 2021 Tesla Model Y will make a debut sooner than anybody expects. According to some reports, we might see this vehicle in the first few months of 2020. Precisely six months ago, Elon Musk announced that the brand-new Model Y would enter the production in Fall 2020. However, news of an earlier debut surprises the entire automotive world.
So, we’ll see Tesla’s new electric crossover in just a couple of months from now. The main rival of the forthcoming electric crossover will be 2021 Ford Mach-E. 2021 Tesla Model Y vs. 2021 Ford Mach-E
Two of the most anticipated EVs for the upcoming season are 2021 Tesla Model Y and 2021 Ford Mach-E. However, there’s are a good number of automotive experts who claim that Rivian’s SUV is a more suitable rival to Tesla’s EV. Well, to us, it seems like the Ford can be the only worthy opponent to the Model Y. in terms of size, Mach-E is a little bit longer than the Model Y. Ford’s crossover is 186 inches long, while Tesla’s champion will be approximately 184.4 inches long. Moreover, it will ride on the Model 3 platform.
Let’s look at the seating capacity: Model Y offers room for seven people, while Mach-E can accommodate up to five passengers. But, most of our readers are interested in the performance section of these electric vehicles. So, let’s jump right in. 2021 Model Y will use a 75 kWh battery, while Ford’s crossover comes with a 98.8 kWh. However, both EVs provide 300 miles of electric range. That’s quite interesting, taking into account the battery difference. But, Tesla claims that their car will produce 400 hp.
On the other hand, Ford will develop 332 hp. The acceleration will be the same; both cars reach from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Lastly, Mach-E will offer a 150 kW high-charging speed while Tesla’s crossover provides 250 kW of charging rate. So, with all of the info that we see here, Model Y offers better performance.
